Yin yoga is a slow paced style of yoga with poses that are held for longer periods of time, ranging from 2-20 minutes. The poses aim at applying moderate stress to the fascia of the body (tendons, ligaments, bones) – to increase circulation in the joints. Yin yoga is a more meditative approach to yoga, and also aims at cultivating awareness of inner silence. The practice of holding yoga poses for extended periods of time has always been a significant part of traditional yoga practice, both in the hatha yoga tradition of India and in the Taoist yoga tradition of the greater China area, and it is a powerful practice on both physical and mental levels.
During these yin yoga sessions you are given the opportunity to practice yin yoga with Sofie Ringsten, Yogayama ́s yin yoga teacher trainer. She ́s a student of the founder of yin yoga, Paul Grilley, and her approach includes the full range of taoism and yin and yang movments, and she uses the practice herself as a complement to her active life as an ultra runner and surfer.
