My first contact with yoga was back in 1993 when discovering ways to find alternative forms of healing when western medicine and physical therapy failed to heal a foot injury. A spiritual seeker from my early teens, I decided to try out Hatha yoga during this time in my life.  Early on, I felt the deep benefits of asana and meditation practice. Miraculously, yoga healed me physically, however what blew me away, was the deep, sustaining well-being, that in turn, wasn’t fleeting, like other sensory pursuits. Yoga gave a greater sense of clarity, calmness and internal focus more than anything I had previously experienced. Here my yoga journey began.

In time I moved to Los Angeles to study music. There one of my vocal coaches approached me in regards to trying out a Kundalini yoga class. I was game, and it took no time for me to start practicing once again. Thus, began my second phase of asana practice, which was on and off for me through the years, however my meditation practice continued as a daily practice the entire time.

I took my first Ashtanga Yoga class at Ashtanga Yoga Stockholm. And I am happy to say from that point on, I haven’t stopped. When I took my first trip to Mysore, India, in 2008, practicing with the late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois, I delved ever deeper into the practice, and fully committed myself to the method. Ever since, I’ve been back to India every year to continue my practice and study. During my latest trip to Mysore I had the honor of receiving my Level 1 Authorization to teach. In the summer of 2012 I will return to Mysore to train with other Authorized teachers as we deepen our understanding of the practice in regards to teaching.

At Yogayama I assist my teacher in Sweden, Laruga Glaser (Authorized Level 2) with her Mysore program.  We also share the Ashtanga 2 class on Sundays.

It’s a great honor to help hold a space for students from all walks of life were they can explore who they are and grow as human beings with the help of this dynamic practice. I feel blessed to continue the lineage of Ashtanga Yoga in the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and I invite all who feel inspired by this practice to walk this path with me.
